Crochet 101: 3-Week Beginner Series - October 14, 21, & 28 | 6 PM
$80.00

Always wanted to learn to crochet but have no idea where to start? This three-week beginner series is for you.

Crochet 101 is designed for absolute beginners. We’ll start with how to hold a hook and yarn and build your skills week by week until you’re reading a crochet pattern and creating an adorable Emotional Support Chicken of your very own.

And you won’t just learn in class. Your registration includes a Beginner Crochet Kit with your own crochet hook, practice yarn, class handouts and a tote to keep everything together. Take your supplies home between classes so you can practice what you’ve learned, then bring your kit back the following week.

Week 1: Stitches

We’re starting at the very beginning.

Learn how to hold your hook and yarn, make a slip knot and starting chain, control your tension, count stitches, turn your work and create a magic ring. Then we’ll practice essential crochet stitches including single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, bobbles and more.

Project: Stitch Sampler Mug Rug

Your first project gives you hands-on practice with several different stitches while creating a useful little sampler you can refer back to later.

Week 2: Yarn, Patterns & Granny Squares

Now that you can make the stitches, it’s time to learn what all that crochet shorthand actually means.

We’ll explore yarn labels and what they tell you about yarn weight, fiber content, yardage, recommended hook size, gauge and care instructions. Then we’ll learn how to read a basic crochet pattern, including common abbreviations, stitch counts and repeats.

Project: Classic Granny Square

You’ll put your new skills to work by reading a simple pattern and making one of crochet’s most versatile building blocks.

Week 3: Bringing It All Together

It’s Chicken Time!

For our final class, we’ll use everything you’ve learned during the first two weeks to follow a pattern and create an Emotional Support Chicken from beginning to end.

You’ll practice reading a pattern, counting stitches, shaping, assembling and finishing your project. By the end of the evening, you’ll have your own handmade chicken and the foundational skills you need to keep crocheting on your own.

Your Beginner Crochet Kit Is Included

Your registration includes:

  • H/5.0 mm crochet hook

  • Practice yarn to use in class and at home

  • Yarn and supplies for all three class projects

  • Crochet 101 reference handouts and patterns

  • Tote bag to carry your crochet supplies from week to week

Everything in your kit is yours to keep.

$80 per person | Includes all three classes and your Beginner Crochet Kit

No previous crochet experience is required.

Because each class builds on the skills learned the week before, registration is for the complete three-week series rather than individual sessions.

The Art of Charcuterie: Arrange, Style & Graze - October 20 | 6 PM
from $35.00

There’s an art to creating a beautiful charcuterie spread, and it’s easier than you might think!

Join us for an adults-only evening at That Art Place and learn how to select, arrange and style meats, cheeses, fruits, nuts, spreads and accompaniments into a charcuterie presentation that looks as good as it tastes.

We’ll talk about how to choose ingredients that work well together, balance flavors and textures, determine how much food you need, and use simple arranging techniques to create that abundant, beautifully styled look. Then you’ll put those tips into practice as you create your own charcuterie offering to enjoy or take home.

We’ll give our ingredients a little seasonal flair for October, but the skills you learn can be used year-round for holidays, parties, girls’ nights, family gatherings or an especially fancy Tuesday.

Already Made a Board With Us?

Bring it back!

If you’ve previously made a serving or charcuterie board at That Art Place, bring it with you and save $10 on your registration.

Don’t have a board? No problem. We’ll provide a charcuterie box for arranging and taking home your creation.

Your Evening Includes

  • Step-by-step charcuterie instruction

  • A selection of meats, cheeses, fruits, nuts, spreads and accompaniments

  • Supplies for arranging and serving your charcuterie

  • A take-home charcuterie box if you’re not bringing a board

  • Wine to sip while you create

You’re also welcome to BYOB if there is something specific you’d like to have for the evening.

*Adults 21+ only.

Come hungry, pour a little wine and spend the evening learning how to turn a handful of delicious ingredients into something beautiful.

Chunky Hand-Knit Blanket Workshop - October 25 | 2 PM
$125.00

Get ready to make something seriously cozy.

Join us at That Art Place for a special extended workshop and create your own chunky hand-knit blanket from beginning to end. No knitting needles, crochet hooks or previous experience required. You’ll create the entire blanket using just your hands and super-soft chunky yarn.

We’ll walk through the process step by step, from creating your first row and building your stitches to joining new yarn, keeping your edges even and finishing your blanket. By the end of the workshop, you’ll head home with a cozy handmade blanket you can actually curl up under.

No Knitting Experience Needed

This workshop is beginner-friendly, even if you’ve never knitted or crocheted before. We’ll work together at a relaxed pace and give you plenty of hands-on help along the way.

Because everyone works at a slightly different speed, plan for at least 3 hours to complete your blanket.

Everything Is Included

Your $125 registration includes:

  • All chunky yarn needed to complete your blanket

  • Step-by-step instruction

  • All supplies and materials

  • 3+ hours of hands-on workshop time

  • Your completed chunky hand-knit blanket to take home

Space for this workshop is limited, so advance registration is required.
